Putin takes drastic measures in the russian Duma
-
Members who missed debates too often, get dismissed

Vladimir Putin signed a new law. From now on the russian Duma can dismiss members of the parliament if they've missed the debates more than 30 days per year without an acceptable excuse. Acceptable excuses are common ones like holiday, illness, death of a family member but also more extraordinary ones likes flight delay, traffic jam, doing work for the Duma, etc.

The parliament can now request the dismission of such members but it has to be ratified by the ethic commission.

This misery of absent parliamentarians was first mentioned by Dmitry Medwedew, president of Russia at that time. When he saw those many empty seats and rows, he said:"I'm surprised to see that only about 10-15% of the elected members of the parliament are present at the meeting. They should be here. If they want to walk around then we should find another job for them from where they can walk around."

May it be a little more?

Putin: Freund oder Feind?
